1. Ariana Grande as Galinda Upland
Ariana Grande is by far the most recognizable name in this cast and is playing Galinda, a young student who later becomes Glinda the Good in the "Wizard of Oz" story we all know and love. She got her start on Broadway in the musical "13" in 2008 when she was just 15 years old, then later joined the cast of Nickelodeon's "Victorious." However, she is most known for her pop music, with multiple Grammy awards, seven studio albums and countless collaborations with other popular musicians.
2. Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp
Cynthia Erivo, playing the iconic Elphaba (and later Wicked Witch of the West), is primarily a stage actress, with many credits from London's West End. In 2015, Erivo made her Broadway debut in the revival of "The Color Purple" and won a Tony for her role. Erivo was nominated for an Oscar in 2019 for her portrayal of Harriet Tubman in "Harriet," and in 2021, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her role as Aretha Franklin in National Geographic's "Genius: Aretha."
3. Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible
Michelle Yeoh is playing Madame Morrible, the Dean of Shiz University that both Galinda and Elphaba attend. Yeoh first made a name for herself in Hollywood in 2000 with her role in Ang Lee's martial arts film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and since then, has had a prolific film career. Most recently, she won an Oscar for her acting in "Everything Everywhere All at Once" and portrayed a serious mafia boss and mother in Netflix's "The Brothers Sun."
4. Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard
Jeff Goldblum, who plays the Wizard of Oz, is another actor that it would be easier for us to list where you have not seen him! Most notably, Goldblum has led the "Jurassic Park" series since the original movie in 1993, as well as appearing in many films from Wes Anderson, such as "The Grand Budapest Hotel" and "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou."
5. Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar
Jonathan Bailey plays Fiyero in the upcoming "Wicked" film, a prince and classmate of Galinda and Elphaba. Bailey is most recognizable from his role as Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix's "Bridgerton" and will be appearing in the next season of "Heartstopper." However, Bailey has a prolific stage career, with several West End roles under his belt, including "Company" in 2018, as well as several shows with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
6. Bowen Yang as Pfannee
Bowen Yang plays Pfannee, one of Galinda's close friends at Shiz. Since 2018, Yang has been a writer on "Saturday Night Live" and joined the main cast of the comedy show the following year. Yang also wrote for Apple TV+'s "Schmigadoon!" and was featured in the queer comedy movies "Fire Island" and "Bros."
7. Peter Dinklage as the voice of Doctor Dillamond
The "Wicked" trailer gave fans the first look at Doctor Dillamond, an anthropomorphic goat who teaches at Shiz and sets off the events of the musical's second act. Though Dinklage is just providing his voice for "Wicked," he is most known for his role as Tyrion Lannister on HBO's "Game of Thrones" and has also had large roles in both the "Chronicles of Narnia" series and "Avengers: Infinity War." However, Dinklage has starred in countless roles in film, TV and on stage since he began acting in the late nineties.
