If we’ve learned anything, it’s that you don’t try to pull
one over on Twitter, especially when it comes to food. One user tried to pass
her meal off as home cooked and Twitter could smell the fakery faster than a buttermilk biscuit.
A user named Paris Fame tweeted out this meal with the
caption, “Ima be a wife one day cause I be cooking.” The plate looked
delicious, piled high with fried chicken, a buttermilk biscuit, seasoned fries and rice and beans.
It all looked good, in fact, a little too good.
Maybe it was the perfectly crispy chicken and perhaps the signature tender
biscuit, but users on Twitter called fowl that Paris had actually made this
food. It all looked too familiar. So familiar, it might actually be food from
the Popeyes restaurant chain ...
Of course, the roasting began there and did not stop. In
addition to lots of side-eye gifs, another user commiserated that they, too, were
tired from cooking, with this meal the Hamburglar would definitely love.
Another person showed their family mac n’ cheese recipe,
which seemed to be a stock photo rhyming with Raft Minner.
Most importantly, people wanted to know where she left the
drink. Surely with a plate that full, you need something to wash it all down
with!
Maybe she just needed the benefit of the doubt. In fact,
this may be a photo of her (kidding, we think not).
Twitter is not that gullible, you see, so don’t even try it.
The cherry on top of it all was when Popeyes themselves responded,
just enjoying the whole thing from the sidelines.
Come to think of it, this thread has us craving some crispy
chicken. Was this whole thing a marketing stunt by Popeyes so we’d order our
very own three piece with two sides? If only we knew Paris Fame's secret recipe...
