1. Lestat Is a Rock Star
The teaser for “Interview With the Vampire” season three
shows the vampire Lestat in full glam rock mode, and he even dropped a fresh
track to get us hyped. Rumor is the season is coming soon.
2. Twice the Dexter
Not only will there be a Dexter prequel series, “Dexter:
Original Sin,” narrated by Michael C. Hall, but also a new Dexter sequel
series, “Dexter: Resurrection,” starring Hall. That’s more Dexter than we dared
to dream.
3. Robert Downey Jr. Is Coming Back to the MCU
In an announcement no one saw coming, Robert Downey Jr. was revealed to be playing Doctor Doom in the upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday" coming in 2026. This is a new character for RDJ, who previously played Iron Man in 10 Marvel films. When he ripped his mask off, the crowd in Hall H went wild.
4. "Avengers: Secret Wars" Is Also Coming in 2027
The Russo brothers, who previously directed several Marvel Cinematic Universe films like "Avengers: Endgame," will return for another Avengers film, "Secret Wars," coming to theaters in 2027.
5. Production on "Fantastic Four" Is Underway
The newest reboot of the Fantastic Four, called "The
Fantastic Four: First Steps," started production this week and will come to theaters
July
25, 2025. It stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and
Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
6. We're Getting a "Doctor Who" Spinoff
Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw will star in "The War
Between the Land and the Sea," a new Doctor Who spin-off series. Co-starring are “Doctor
Who” alumni Jemma Redgrave and Alexander Devrient. The series will focus on an
evil, ancient ocean-dwelling species that suddenly emerges to threaten
humanity. UNIT leads the charge to defend humans in this international crisis. Filming will begin next month.
7. There's New "Boys" on the Way
“Vought Rising” will be a prequel series in the “The Boys” universe
about Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront. Set in the 1950s,
it will chart the rise of evil superhero conglomerate Vought. There’s also
season two of the spinoff “Gen V” in 2025, with Hamish Linklater joining the cast
and Chace Crawford making a guest appearance. “The Boys” will conclude with season
five, also starring Jensen Ackles.
8. The "Transformers" Universe Gets a Prequel Movie
If you’ve ever wondered how the relationship soured between Megatron
and Optimus Prime, “Transformers One,” an animated film, will follow the two as teens on
their home planet of Cybertron. Chris Hemworth, Brian Tyree Henry and Scarlett
Johansson will lend their voice talents. Steve Buscemi, Jon Hamm, Laurence
Fishburne and Keegan-Michael Key also star.
9. Season Two of "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" Looks Amazing
After a disappointing first season of Prime Video's "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" prequel series, season two seems to bring the heat with a rich backstory of the rings and some beloved familiar characters. The season will premiere August 29.
10. Michelle Yeoh Brings Action to "Star Trek"
Starring as a space warlord, Michelle Yeoh heads the new
movie, “Star Trek: Section 31.” Described as “John Wick” meets “Star Trek,”
this is bound to be the most action-packed “Star Trek” installment yet. It is
scheduled to arrive in 2025.
11. Apple Renews "Silo" for Season Two
One of the more slept-on streaming series is "Silo," on Apple TV+, following
Rebecca Ferguson as a post-apocalyptic subterranean-dwelling
engineer who believes Earth’s surface to be uninhabitable. Steve Zahn joins the
cast as someone new to her. The season premieres November 15.
12. More "Penguin" Is Coming
After stealing the show in “The Batman,” Colin Farrell gets
his own prequel series as iconic villain The Penguin. The series will be
mob-coded with The Penguin embroiled in a turf war with Sofia Falcone (Cristin
Milioti). The show premieres September 19 on MAX.
13. Harrison Ford Is Red Hulk
With Harrison Ford taking over the role of General Ross after the death of William Hurt, it was rumored that Red Hulk, Ross's alter ego, would finally appear on screen in "Captain America: Brave New World." A clip screened at the convention confirmed the rumors. The film comes to theaters
