Runners, volunteers and spectators are thrilled that the Boston Marathon is back after COVID-19 canceled the country's oldest 26.2-mile race in 2020. Also back along the famous route to cheer those who trained long and hard is Spencer, a 12-year-old therapy dog whose fur parents own The Henry Studio in Holliston, Mass.
Spencer and his sister, Penny, position themselves near Ashland State Park (about two to three miles from the starting line) to support the runners.
This year Spencer had something to celebrate as well; according to local station WCVB, he "miraculously" survived surgery to remove a 3.5-lb. tumor.
The marathon will return to its regularly scheduled date in April, giving more runners the opportunity to check this event off their bucket list, and Spencer and Penny another day full of the attention they absolutely, 100 percent deserve.
