Attention all residents of Far Far Away and beyond! Shrek has so graciously agreed to open his very humble abode for characters of all kinds for one weekend only. Starting on October 13, booking will
open through Airbnb for this tree stump and surrounding swamp for one, two-night stay for up to three
guests, October 27 through 29.
The property is located in the forests of the Scottish Highlands and
offers a unique experience for fans of the animated Dreamworks film series. It
has been painstakingly recreated from the film, right down to the earwax candle,
an outhouse and a roaring fire.
Some things to note are that there is no running water (sink, shower and
toilet are actually located 20 meters away), but a concierge will greet you for
a tour and arrange your meals for the weekend (all the waffles and parfait
you can eat). The property is on Ardverikie Estate and guests must find their
own way there, whether by dragon or enchanted carriage.
The rental is a promotion for HopScotch Children’s Charity
“which provides some of Scotland’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children
with respite breaks through nurturing and dynamic holiday trips.”
This is one in a long line of promotional stays Airbnb has done with beloved brands, from the Barbie Dream House to the Hocus Pocus cottage. These accommodations are limited to one lucky party, which makes them even more exciting to get.
This stay sounds particularly enchanting, but if the swamp isn't for you, you can also check out the Castles category on the rental site to see if a more royal stay would be your speed. Just remember to check the turrets for dragons, fairies and non-stop talking donkeys.
