What is "The Acolyte," Anyways?
This new "Star Wars" series from Disney+ is set at the end of the High Republic, the golden era for the Jedis in power, before the events of the Skywalker Saga (or the original trilogy) and 100 years before "The Phantom Menace." The series follows a Jedi master, played by Lee Jung-jae from "Squid Game," who is investigating a series of crimes. Through his investigations, he connects with a former Padawan learner and uncovers sinister forces at play.

What Makes "The Acolyte" Different?
Although only three episodes are out on Disney+ so far, this series is shaping up to be darker and more thrilling than previous stories in the "Star Wars" canon. The plot is heavily reliant on a revenge story, with heavier themes and gorier battles than we have seen previously. Even more, it has shown a darker side of the Jedi order, proving that the line between light and dark can be easily blurred — particularly when it comes to the use of the Force. Will this show continue down its more thrilling, darker path? We shall see, but earlier critic reviews have suggested as such.
