This fall, we want to be baddies — bold and glam, but still
soft and silly. The "Soft Baddie" makeup trend has been around for a few years on
TikTok, but it’s suddenly blowing up with lots of how-to videos on how to get
this look.
The Soft Baddie trend is sort of a make-under of the Baddie
look, which is characterized by smokey eyes, defined brows, dark lips and
sharp contour. With Soft Baddie, you blend, blend, blend and fold in pastels,
peaches and lighter shades.
TikToker Ivy gives a cheeky step-by-step tutorial video. Not
only is it fairly easy to follow, but her playful expressions keep the mood light
— definitely showing the softer side of being a bad boss gal.
A Top Down Approach
Ivy starts with foundation, first using a brush to define
the area around her brows. She uses two NARS Radiant Longwear shades and taps it
all over the rest of her face.
Shade-y Behavior
Next, Ivy contours with Fenty Match Stix Contour Skinstick.
She draws lines in the hollows of her cheeks, across the forehead and two
lines down the nose, with a circle at the end, before moving onto concealer. She
does not blend — yet.
Concealer Weapon
Next, Ivy uses two concealers in lighter shades than the
foundation, from e.l.f Hydrating Camo Concealer. She taps the lightest shade in
the inner corner of her undereyes, then a medium shade in the center undereye.
Last, she follows with a dark shade — Revlon Candid Concealer — in the outer
corners of the undereye. Before blending, she also dabs light concealer between the
brows, down the nose, under the nose and on the chin for a reverse contour.
Now it’s time to tap it all in with a brush, pausing to make sure the concealer
has really had a chance to set.
The Setup
With setting powder, in this case One Size Blurring Setting Powder,
Ivy taps under her eyes and over her cheeks to lock everything in place.
It’s Glow Time
Ivy taps bronzer over her cheeks from p. louise, the Wrap It Up palette, to give her face that snatched look. She blends very well, as we don't want streaks or strong demarcation.
Royal Flush
On her cheekbones, Ivy taps in MAC Powder Blush in Melba, making sure
there’s a peachy glow. She also highlights on top of her
cheekbones, under her brows, the inner corners of her eyes and the tip of her
nose with a small brush. Anastasia Glow Seeker Powder would fit the bill.
Giving Lip
Lastly, Ivy lines her lips with MAC Lip Liner and fills them
in with Ulta Beauty Velvet Matte Lip Crayon. Her lips give the subtle effect of
a darker liner, but more ombre than contrasting liner and lipstick.
Ivy's inner baddie is ready to seize the day while her softness keeps it very demure and very mindful.
