1. "Designated Survivor"
Keifer Sutherland stars as Thomas Kirkman, the Secretary of
Housing and Urban Development, who becomes President after an attack at the
State of the Union kills the line of succession. As he navigates his new role,
he needs to uncover the truth of who perpetrated this disaster.
2. "The Residence"
A locked-room mystery in the tradition of Agatha Christie or
“Knives Out,” the locked room here happens to be the Executive Residence at the
White House. Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba) needs to figure out who killed the Head
Usher during a State Dinner, even if it involves interviewing every employee
and guest. She’s a very quirky detective with an obsession with birding and the
series is silly fun.
3. "Scandal"
Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) is a former White House
Communications Director who starts her own crisis management firm, while having
a steamy affair with the President. The series is rife with many scandals, as
well as conspiracies and murder investigations.
4. “Paradise”
In this unconventional political mystery, Sterling K. Brown
is a secret service agent who discovers the lifeless body of the President
(James Marsden) when his shift starts. He’s suddenly under investigation, but
the big twist revealed at the end of the first episode turns the series upside
down.
5. "Zero Day"
In an alternate timeline to ours, a devastating cyber-attack,
dubbed “Zero Day” causes casualties and chaos. George Mullen (Robert DeNiro), a
former U.S. President, is assigned to investigate, uncovering a complex
conspiracy, including members of Congress and his own daughter, in the process.
6. "House of Cards"
An iconic Presidential thriller, this David Fincher-produced
series follows Frank Underwood, a ruthless and cunning politician embarking on
a corrupt climb to power alongside his wife Claire. The show definitely has “Macbeth”
vibes and was adapted from a British series of the same name.
