1. 1900 Park Fare Reopens
1900 Park Fare is officially reopening in Disney’s Grand Floridian
Resort & Spa, and Strawberry Soup is already back on the menu! An
“all you care to enjoy” meal for both breakfast and dinner, the restaurant has
character dining with Princess
Tiana in her Tiana’s Bayou Adventure fit, Prince Aladdin, Mirabel and Cinderella.
Items include bread pudding, donut holes and breakfast pizza for breakfast;
entrees like Tiana’s Gumbo and baked salmon for dinner; and
a Grand Floridian Financier for dessert. Fan-favorite Strawberry Soup will be
available at both meals.
2. Pixar Fest Begins in Disneyland
Through August 4 at
Disneyland Resort, Pixar-themed foods are rolling out in both the parks and
hotels. To accompany the “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” parade,
there are hundreds of dishes and drinks that tie into Pixar’s greatest hits.
There’s an “Incredibles”-themed cookie, a Red Velvet Tres Leches Parfait inspired by “Coco,”
an Exothermic Margarita from “Elementals,” Gusteau
Macaron from “Ratatouille,” Roundup BBQ Potato inspired by “Toy Story,”
Sea Monster Lemonade from “Luca” and the Marigold Bridge inspired by “Coco,”
just to name a few. Be on the lookout for these limited-time dishes throughout
the resort.
3. Three New Mexican Restaurants Open at Downtown Disney
In May, three restaurants
will open at Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort. Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán will
introduce Paseo willserve a fusion of Mexican and French cuisine featuring
ceviches, Mama’s cochinita pibil (roasted marinated pork), lamb barbacoa and
the mejillones (mussels). Céntrico is for upscale Mexican cuisine and tequila-based cocktails: quesabirrias, chicken enchiladas, tlayuda (a Oaxacan shareable
dish reminiscent of a pizza) and Caesar salad. Tiendita is all
about Mexican
heritage flavors and street food: esquites (roasted corn), fish tacos, ice
cream-stuffed chocolate tacos and breakfast favorites like chorizo breakfast
burritos and chilaquiles (marinated tortilla chips with an egg).
4. Earth Month Brings Tasty Treats to Animal Kingdom
Why limit Earth Day to a single day when Earth Month can celebrate
with treats all April long? In Walt Disney World, the Elephant Cupcake will be
ready to unwrap in Disney’s
Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The
Pachyderm and the Pollinator cocktail is a sipper of Cruxland Gin, bitters, and
soda water with a lemon wheel and honey simple syrup at Tiffins restaurant
in the park. The Raindrop Tart
at Mara at Animal Kingdom Lodge is chocolate cake, pistachio crumb, passion
fruit gel, vanilla cheesecake and white chocolate mousse. There are 12 treats in
total, including The
Plant in the Boot Petit Cake from Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs.
5. It's the Season of the Force
May the Fourth be with you! And may it be with you also April 5
through June 2, when you can get “Star Wars”-themed treats in Disneyland.
Dozens of treats and drinks will be sprinkled throughout the land, from Grogu
Macarons at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the Bantha Burger at Galactic
Grill, the Toydaria Swirl (green milk with chili seasoning and mango jellies)
at Milk Stand and the Wookiee Parfait at Galactic Grill. Judging by the lineup,
it’s sweeter in outer space.
6. New Snacks at Typhoon Lagoon
With the reopening of the
shipwreck-themed water park in Orlando comes two new treats: the Bathtub
Sundae and Elote Nachos. The sundae has pineapple, strawberry and matcha Dole Whip
with popping pearls on top. The nachos are tri-colored chips piled high with jalapeno
cheese sauce, elote corn dip, jalapenos, guacamole, chopped cilantro and your
choice of shrimp, chicken, pork or tofu. These are the perfect snacks to munch
after you work up an appetite on monster water slides.
