We’ve heard of “farm to table,” but have you heard of “screen to table”?
Beginning June 30 for a limited time only, the massive streaming titan will take on food with a pop-up restaurant: Netflix Bites. Touted as “the ultimate dining experience serving up cuisine from the world-renowned chefs you’ve seen on Netflix,” the concept is generating plenty of buzz online. If you're a fan of "Chef's Table," "Iron Chef" and "Drink Masters," you'll know that the roster of Michelin-starred chefs speaks for itself: Dominique Crenn, Ming Tsai, Curtis Stone, Jacques Torres and Andrew Zimmern.
So, what’s on the menu? TBD, but apparently they're creating a special tasting menu to give foodies a culinary experience they'll never forget. Brunch? Yes. Of course, this is happening in Los Angeles, AKA foodie central.
Josh Simon, VP of Consumer Products, elaborated on the concept further in the Netflix press release: "Netflix is already a destination for beloved food programming, from documentaries to competition shows. From episode to entrée, with Netflix Bites we are creating an in-person experience where fans can immerse themselves in their favorite food shows. We are excited to collaborate with these incredible chefs who will bring this vision to life and showcase an array of their delicious menus."
The entertainment platform has been increasingly experimenting with immersive activations, retail stores and now, a restaurant. What's next? World domination? Kidding, that's already happened.
You can visit the pop-up at the end of the month at the Short Stories Hotel at 115 S. Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles or book your rezzie here.
