What Are the 13 Must-See Movies of the Summer?

From Seth Rogen, the turtles are back for a new generation. They just want to be normal teenagers and eat their pizza, but first they must embark on a heroes’ quest. 

Miles Morales enters the Spider-verse to see old friends (Gwen, Peter B. Parker) and new (Spider-Man 2099). He will also have to make a difficult choice between saving someone he loves versus the whole dang world.

Director Wes Anderson goes to the desert in search of aliens in this film starring Jason Schwartzman, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson and Hope Davis, just to name a few of the huge all-star cast. 

After a disastrous part four, we have high hopes for the fifth installment of the "Indiana Jones" series. It stars Harrison Ford as a retiring Indy, on one last quest with his goddaughter, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge ("Fleabag").   

An opposite version of “The Little Mermaid,” this animated film tells of a world where mermaids are the beasts and a young kraken must take them on to save everyone. 

Delayed thanks to the pandemic, the long-awaited seventh installment of the Tom Cruise Action series (part one of two) will premiere in July. With some major stunts in store, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and team attempt to track down a humanity-destroying weapon. Part two comes out next summer. 

Barbie (Margot Robbie) has an existential crisis that leads her and guy-pal Ken (Ryan Gosling) to the Real World. This isn’t exactly kid stuff as the film is rated PG-13. 

This biopic tells the true story of J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy), whose Manhattan Project led to the invention of nuclear weapons during World War II. Christopher Nolan directs and Emily Blunt and Matt Damon co-star. This is the one movie you need to see in IMAX to fully appreciate it in its 65mm glory. 

More scary than the 2003 Eddie Murphy bomb (and hopefully funnier), this second attempt at film-ifying the classic Disney ride stars LaKeith Stanfield, Danny DeVito and Own Wilson as a team brought in to exorcise a haunted house for a single mom (Rosario Dawson).
