1. Dust
Regularly dusting can do loads for your indoor air quality. Did you know that your house can collect up to 40 pounds of dust in a year? So, yeah, it’s pretty important to dust one-two times a week. And don’t forget to get the top of your doorways, the baseboards and behind your dresser (we know you haven’t).
2. Air purifier
This one may cost you a pretty penny, but it’ll be worth it. Air purifiers come in handy for multiple seasons of your life. Moved to a new home? Have pets? Just had a baby? All reasons to get an air purifier. And if you want more bang for your buck, you can use it as a white noise machine while you sleep, too.
3. Essential oils
Those candles you got from T.J.Maxx might be polluting your indoor air. And air fresheners? Not so fresh. We get it though. Who doesn’t love the smell of balsam fir in the air? Instead, try replacing those candles, artificial fragrances and air fresheners for some quality, organic essential oils.
4. Non-toxic cleaners
Although many common household cleaners claim to clean and disinfect, it’ll come at the price of sacrificing easy breathing in your home. Many cleaners are made up of volatile organic compounds; otherwise, known as VOCs. It’s best to know what you’re spraying in your air and one of the best alternatives would be Force of Nature.
5. Open a window
Did you read that right? Yes. Yes, you did. Opening a window and allowing natural ventilation and air flow can do wonders in improving your air quality. This is especially important when you know that you’ll be emitting indoor pollutants such as cooking with a gas stove or cleaning with harsh chemicals. Out the window they go!
