1. Switch to Greek yogurt, like, yesterday.
If you find yourself reaching for a daily Yoplait, but haven't made the switch to Greek yet, it's high time! Greek yogurt can have around 10 extra grams of protein per serving compared to regular yogurt -- and it's already a snack you're used to!
2. Eat like a bird.
Hear me out. Nuts of all shapes, sizes and flavors are an excellent source of protein (and healthy fat, but that's for another day). I love snacking on things like shelled pistachios in front of the TV, and adding chopped walnuts to your Greek yogurt (see above), or even to that piece of pie you couldn't help yourself from slicing up, is a sneaky but efficient way to get some extra protein in.
3. Sneak in some protein powder.
An obvious hack, but an easy one, and it's not limited to shakes. Smoothies, oatmeal, pancakes, even your morning coffee can become protein-packed snacks simply by mixing in a scoop of protein powder. Go flavorless if you don't want to overpower your treat, or throw some vanilla or chocolate kick in there.
4. Get cozy with cottage cheese.
Cottage cheese is a pretty divisive snack, but it's a surefire way to add some extra protein to your diet. If you're not interested in eating it straight from the container with a handful of berries, get creative! You could blend it up and add to pasta sauce -- the extra creaminess is just the cherry on top -- or mix into your mornings. Or, use it as a spread on crackers or rice cakes with some bagel seasoning or sea salt to up the flavor ante.
5. Endless egg whites.
Take a page from the pisco sour! Since egg whites are basically tasteless, adding them to a variety of snacks or meals won't hurt your flavor profile, but it will add a good 4 grams of protein per egg. Try mixing some into your morning oats (just make sure to cook it through).
6. Use hummus as a condiment.
Hummus isn't just for celery sticks and mezze platters. Next time you're whipping up a quick sandwich for lunch, slather on some hummus -- red pepper hummus is a personal fave -- to add some dimension and extra protein to your sammy.
