1. Cocktails or Mocktails, Anyone?
Whether you’re a cocktail or a mocktail girly, there are an endless number of bevs that you can conjure up for an ideal Halloween night in. Whether you prefer spooky, spicy or cutesy, crafting up a happy hour drink to kick off the evening is essential. Some of my personal favorites from TikTok include the Vampire Kiss, the Blackberry Margarita Smash and the Purple Potion Drink. As an honorable mention for a mocktail, the Spooky Spritz will always do the trick.
2. Trick or Treat Yourself to a Halloween-Inspired Recipe
I’m all for a low-maintenance recipe that still looks good for the ‘gram. Some notable favorites of social media savvy food bloggers are different variations of Halloween-themed charcuterie boards, crescent mummy hot dogs, homemade Halloween snack mix and Twix cookies. Really, you can make candy-inspired cookies with any Halloween candy of choice, such as Snickers, Reeses or my personal favorite, a mix of leftover Halloween candy cookies shown below.
3. It’s All About the Ambience
Once your food and drink recipes are brewed and baked, it’s important to let the spooky vibes commence. Pinterest is a hub for all things Halloween-inspired, and holds endless possibilities for DIY decor. Light up a pumpkin-scented candle, grab your go-to fall blanket and get into your Halloween costume, AKA PJs and slippers, before parking yourself on the couch for the night. The smell of cookies in the oven will, of course, add to the ambience as well.
4. Choose a Ghoulish Film...If You Dare
The movie you choose for your at home boo bash can make or break the entire night, so choose wisely based on the mood you’re in and the films you enjoy. If you love all things witchy, “Hocus Pocus” and “Twitches” are both nostalgic choices to fall back on. Speaking of nostalgia, Disney’s “Halloweentown” is a Gen Z favorite and a must watch Halloween film. If you prefer a film focusing on comedic horror, “Beetlejuice” is a fan favorite (just don’t say his name three times.) “Hubie Halloween” is also a lighter spooky season film starring Adam Sandler if you’re a Netflix original junkie.
