Located in Back Bay right in the heart of Newbury Street, Central Perk Coffee Co. is opening in a perfect location to relax after a day of shopping on one of the most aesthetic streets in Boston. The photos we have seen thus far display a cozy and modernized version of what we’ve seen on our televisions for all these years.
Because of the show’s cult following, especially with newer generations of teens and young adults, Warner Brothers is not taking the creative direction lightly. The menu was created by a creative advisor who is also a world-renowned restaurateur, so fans of the show’s ins and outs are in luck.
The cafe will serve breakfast, lunch and shared plates for dinner that are simple and nostalgic for fans of the show. This includes Joey’s signature meatball sandwich, Rachel’s side salad and Mama’s Little Bakery Cheesecake (if you know, you know.) There are also going to be six signature coffee blends titled with references to the show, such as “How You Doin?” and “We Were on a Coffee Break.” Aside from coffee and comfort food, there will also be alcoholic beverages available, including an espresso martini.
Central Perk Coffee Co. is set to open later this month, and with the amount of both original and newer fans of the show, it’s hard to say how packed and busy it will be upon opening. If you don’t prefer to wait in line and be in crowded spaces, it might be a good idea to give it a couple weeks for the hype to die down a bit. As a longtime “Friends” fan, I will be trying this spot ASAP and will write a follow-up article on the full experience!
