1. Coquette Ribbons and Bows
Coquette has not cycled out of style just yet, the end of ribbons and bows is nowhere in sight according to fall 2024 fashion predictions. Expect bows on dresses, skirts and handbags. While the bow craze has fizzled out, according to Prada’s showcasing at the FW24 runway, they’re here to stay as dainty accents to pieces.
2. Shades of Green
The color green has made a splash on the runways for fall and winter fashion this year. Finally knocking reds out their monopoly over cold-weather fashion, greens will be favored shades. Major fashion houses like Gucci and Miu Miu strutted in their green best down runways and other well-known names like Loewe also featured green in fall collections to symbolize new beginnings and growth.
3. Vintage Power Suits
The power suit has made a reentry to the fashion world and is something to get excited about. Instead of the typical 21 century power suit look, as stylish as it may be, this season they're back with a vintage twist. Shoulder pads, big blazers and knee-length dresses are set to make a sweeping return to department store racks.
4. T-Strap Shoes
Mary Janes are still fairly popular everywhere but this fall there will be a huge emphasis on T-strap shoes which bear a similar but different look. The academic, retro style seamlessly weaves in with other trends on this list including the expected resurgence of prep school clothing.
5. Big Fur Coats
Go big and bold with your efforts to keep warm during the colder months. Mob wife coats are back in and a pillar of fall/winter coat collections this year. The fur coat look melds well with the resurgence of 70s fashion and loud luxury.
6. Wild Animal Print
Following suit with the loudness of big fur coats, animal print is back and popular again. Expect shirts, skirts and even coats covered in wild animal prints. This fall there will be an intricate balance between poised preppy looks and letting out your inner animal.
7. Corporate Chic
Returning to the office is the new black (don’t shoot the messenger). Alongside the preppy, power suit vibes, influencers and models alike have been spotted wearing button-downs, pencil skirts and rocking some framed glasses. Many have been calling this look the “Office Siren” trend but according to predictions, this trend will stick around for a hot minute.
8. Bohemian Renaissance
Between this list and recent years of fashion trends, one thing has been made clear — the 70s were a Golden Age of fashion trends. Expect flowy linen dresses, structured boots and free-flowing accessories as staples in lookbooks. Though it’s cooling down now, these pieces can be woven in with the big fur coats and animal prints to maintain the DNA of this rockstar, bohemian era.
9. Butter Yellow
Butter Yellow was also a feature in the 2023 fall fashion predictions and is sticking with the trends for a bit. For a pop of color in corporate chic outfits, opt for a butter yellow vest or midi skirt. It’s a great shade to maintain a little pop of sunshine while it’s rainy outside.
10. Fringe and Fur
Yet another edition to the 70s craze (clearly there’s never enough) fringe and fur will be popularized again. Remember cutting up and fringing shirts circa 2012? It’s coming full circle but on a runway level, not your standard DIY, cute as they were. Fur accents on clothing pieces are also going to be all the rage so come December, you can fully embrace your inner ballet Nutcracker aesthetic.
