Barnes Nature Center is a true hidden gem that not many CT locals know about. With bridges built for relaxing walks, you can stroll throughout the center while taking in some beautiful New England views. You'll feel like you're in your own little oasis here, and with the easy walking paths you'll be able to spend hours at Barnes Nature Center!

Washington Depot is the town that the iconic "Gilmore Girls" originated, and is filled with tons of CT nature activities. Steep Rock Preserve is categorized as an easier level hike with a tunnel and the Instagram famous Henry David Thoreau Footbridge, a swinging bridge embroidered with the author's famous quotes. Feel free to explore the quaint town following your hike with some shopping and Arethusa's ice cream!

If you're someone who loves view points and breathtaking peaks, Northwoods and Bluff Heads Reserve in Guilford is your go-to CT nature hike. Although you may break a bit of a sweat, the view at the top of the peak is so worth it. Pro tip: this is an east-facing view point, making it the perfect sunrise hike!

If you're looking for a bit of exercise to pair with some amazing views, head over to Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middletown. This is a three mile hike in total, one and a half miles there and back. If you'd like to skip the hike and simply visit the waterfalls, there's a parking lot that will drop you off there directly. This is the perfect fall nature walk to see the classic New England foliage that CT has to offer!

From a walk, to a picnic or a beach day, Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven is the perfect spot in Southern Connecticut for all things nature. Take in the views of the Long Island Sound in the summer or fall seasons while the temps are still mild, and make sure to get up close to the lighthouse from some IG worthy pics.
