1. Mando and the Child are on the run (still)!
Technically they've been on the run since episode 3 from season 1, but it's worth remembering that Din Djarin is officially the most wanted bounty hunter in the galaxy. Oh, the irony. Ever since the Mandalorian came back and rescued the Child from the clutches of the Client, the pair have been on the lam with every bounty hunter imaginable on their tail. While Mando tries to drop off Baby Yoda in a nice little village in Chapter Four: Sanctuary, it's eventually made clear to the reticent warrior that the Child will never truly be safe -- and needs his daddy the Mandalorian by his side.
2. The Child's powers are growing
It goes without saying that Baby Yoda could just be a cute sidekick in this buddy cop space western and we'd watch the heck out of it anyway. But no, the Child is clearly Force-sensitive, and his powers are growing by the day. In addition to using the Force for levitation (see: the confrontation with the Mudhorn), Baby Yoda is also capable of Force-choking and healing. Let's not forget he also deflected a flamethrower blast (super cute!). Do not mess with this kid.
3. Moff Gideon is still alive...with a Darksaber
Giancarlo Esposito absolutely kills it as the ruthless and calculating antagonist determined to get whatever he wants. And for some reason, he wants the Child. I mean, we all do. But what nefarious plan could he have in mind? Although the Mandalorian manages to shoot down Moff Gideon's TIE Fighter in the final episode of season 1, we see that the villain has survived and emerges from the wreckage by slashing his way out with a freaking Darksaber. You can't get much cooler than that! Our next question: How the heck did such a baddie get a black-bladed lightsaber??? Word on the "Star Wars" street is that the Darksaber is an ancient Mandalorian artifact, so clearly our boy Mando is going to have some words with him in season 2...
4. What really happened on Mandalore?
Speaking of, we don’t quite know the full story behind what happened on Mandalore. But we do know this much: The Empire attacked Mandalore to establish Imperial occupation and forced any remaining survivors to go into hiding. To the rest of the galaxy, the Mandalorians were officially wiped out, which is why Mando sticks out like a sore thumb wherever he goes. (Not to mention he's got an adorable green tot with him, but hey -- this is the Way.) Sadly in the season finale, the secret hideout of Din's fellow Mandalorians is exposed and it's unclear how many allies were able to escape.
5. No more IG-11
Taika Waititi’s verbal turn as the oft-humorous droid came to the end when the droid heroically helped the ragtag group escape stormtroopers. The assassin droid came a long way from almost shooting Baby Yoda to sacrificing himself in the final episode to ensure the Child's safety. We'll miss you, Taika!
6. Boba Fett, is that you?
Rewind to Chapter Five: The Gunslinger. Who was the mysterious figure at the end of the episode who walked up to assassin Fennec Shand’s body? If fan theories are right, we might be seeing the return of an iconic Mandalorian character from the jaws of the Sarlacc pit. Dun dun dunnn! Cue every "Star Wars" fan screaming for an epic Boba Fett versus Din Djarin showdown.
7. Return of the Jedi
As in, we’ll (hopefully) be seeing Force-users in season 2! In the season finale, the Armorer orders Mando to find the Jedi and return the Child to them. Honestly, we wouldn’t even know where to start, but if the new trailer is any indication, the Mandalorian is on to something. Considering season 1 of the series begins five years after “Return of the Jedi,” it is unclear how many Jedi remain and where they would be. Frankly, we’re just hoping for a mention or two of a certain Skywalker...
Season 2 of “The Mandalorian” premieres on Disney+ Oct. 30.
