What to Know: The award was accepted by the team of Mark Weingarten, James H. Mather, Al Nelson, Chris Burdon and Mark Taylor and recently received the Cinema Audio Society's top prize for sound.
20. Best Visual Effects
Winner: "Avatar: the Way of Water" dir. James Cameron
What to Know: The award was accepted by the visual effects team, consisting of Joe Letteri, Richard Baneham, Eric Saindon and Daniel Barrett. This is Letteri's fifth Academy Award, Baneham's second and Saindon and Barrett's first. This film is a sequel to "Avatar" (2009) which won the same category.

Winner: Sarah Polley - "Women Talking"
What to Know: Polley acted as director for the film as well and this was her first Oscar after being nominated once previously for "Away From Her" (2006.)
