Daisy Jones & the Six are bringing the thrills of rock and roll to your screen this spring and are ready to hit center stage with all the '70s nostalgia, from bellbottom jeans to feathery hair and mullets.
"Daisy Jones & the Six," written by Taylor Jenkins Reid and published in 2019, is getting a TV adaptation and with the official trailer finally released, fans of the novel (such as myself) could not be more excited. Here's everything you need to know about the show before it is released on Amazon Prime next month!
What is "Daisy Jones and the Six" about?
This book chronicles the chaotic and whirlwind rise and fall of a fictional rock band, The Six, after meeting Daisy Jones, a young singer and socialite who loves to party and quickly captures the interest of The Six frontman, Billy Dunne. When a music producer sees the potential for Billy and Daisy to work on music for The Six together, they form a wildly successful partnership that takes the band from obscurity to unbelievable fame. But at the height of their fame, the band fell apart and broke up, never revealing a reason to the public. That is, until the band agrees to sit down with an interviewer and give a total tell-all about what happened to the mysterious group of musicians.
The novel is written as a series of verbal interviews between the author of the upcoming The Six biography and members of the band and their friends and families. Based on the official trailer, the TV mini-series will be documentary-style, cutting between interviews and scenes taken straight from the book.
When does the TV show air?
The first three episodes in the mini-series will be released on Amazon Prime on Friday, March 3. The rest of the series will be released weekly on Fridays. It will consist of a total of 10 episodes. Amazon will also be releasing the fictional band's album, Aurora, in conjunction with the show, which will feature songwriting contributions from Phoebe Bridgers, Jackson Browne and Marcus Mumford.
